- Community Forum Updates: On the community page, could you tag posts with “Resolved Vxx.xx.xx” or something similar to indicate when a feature has been added? Alternatively, moving resolved requests to a different section would help us quickly find open requests and know if a feature we’re interested in has already been implemented.
- Sign-in Modal UI Bug Fix: The “EMAIL” and “PASSWORD” placeholders in the sign-in fields currently cover typed text. If these are placeholders, they should disappear when typing starts, or if they’re labels, moving them beside the textboxes would improve readability.
General UI/UX Enhancements
- Back Button Navigation in Annotations: Adjust the back button functionality when viewing an annotation in the Reading Notes annotation menu for an epub to return the user to the Annotations menu for that specific document, rather than the main ‘Reading Notes’ menu. This change would allow for smoother navigation and uninterrupted workflow when reviewing annotations within a document.
- Screen Rotation & Lock: Enable screen rotation and lock options to prevent accidental presses when writing in different orientations. Locking options should include portrait, landscape, and 180° portrait modes, along with the ability to lock bottom buttons.
- Requested by u/inked_altitude on November 1, 2024
- “The ability to rotate and lock screen orientation would be fantastic. When writing in portrait mode, my hand often hits the bottom buttons, pulling me to the Home Screen. When turning the device to write in landscape, my hand occasionally triggers the menu. If I could lock the screen in normal portrait, landscape, or 180° in portrait (with the top-right menu moving with the orientation), it would prevent accidental button presses. Alternatively, a lock for the bottom buttons would allow uninterrupted writing—perhaps something you could add to the top-right or left-hand menu, or activate with a gesture.”
- Additional Fonts & Custom Screensavers: Add support for additional fonts and the option to set custom screensavers (.png files) for personalization.
- Wake Device by Removing Stylus: Add an option to wake the device by detaching the magnetic stylus, in addition to the current functionality that turns the device on when opening the case.
- Homepage UI/UX Customization: Allow customization of the 8 main apps on the homepage by selecting favorite or frequently used apps and customizing layout order (e.g., placing Daily in the top left, Learning in the center).
- Improved Formatting of ChatGPT Output: Enhance ChatGPT output rendering to display headers, bold text, and LaTeX formulas without markdown symbols.
- Customizable Home Screen Boxes: Enable replacing default boxes (e.g., Pickings) with custom folders or frequently used apps.
- Customizable Home Screen Apps: Lastly, allowing favorite apps on the Home Screen (instead of the most recently opened) would provide faster access to frequently used apps.
- Configurable Swipe Zones for Undo and Refresh: Implement swipe zones for quick actions, like undo and refresh, and allow users to customize gesture functions (e.g., assign to two- or three-finger tap).
- Stylus Button Customization: Customizing the action of the stylus’ physical button would allow greater workflow personalization. For instance, I noticed a user request to set it as a lasso tool.
PDF and Document Management
-
- Ability to Rotate PDFs in Paper: Add functionality to rotate PDFs, both on a per-page basis and for the entire document globally. This feature would support users who have PDF documents intended for landscape orientation, allowing them to adjust the orientation as needed after importing with ViTransfer.
- Unlimited Scroll in Paper & Meetings: Unlimited scrolling in Paper and Meetings documents would prevent interruptions when taking notes and would enable the AI Assistant to view more than the current page.
- Sorting of Documents in Learning: Improve the sorting functionality in the Learning section so that PDFs and ePubs can be accurately sorted in alphabetical order when “Ascending” is selected. This would ensure a more organized and intuitive document management experience.

- Functions Essential for Reading E-Books:
- Allow underlining by selecting text, similar to other e-readers. Current pen-based underlining creates separate annotations.
- Add a content search feature within e-books for easier navigation.
- Enable page-turning with a Bluetooth remote, which is a common feature in most Bluetooth-supported e-readers.
- PDF Reader Enhancements:
- Add an in-document keyword search.
- Universal zoom for all PDF pages.
3.
Clickable links within PDFs for navigation.
- Continuous scrolling or quick page-jumping options.
- Retain Zoom Settings for Documents: Enable the device to remember the zoom setting for each document individually. This would eliminate the need to adjust the zoom level each time a document is opened, streamlining the reading experience.
- Originally suggested by Jeffron on Oct 19, 2024
- Remember Last Zoom Setting for PDFs: Enable documents to remember the last zoom level set for easy reopening at a preferred zoom level.
- Pinch and Zoom for PDF in Paper App: Add pinch and zoom functionality to the PDF annotation feature in the Paper app.
- Copy and Paste Between Different Papers: Enable copying and pasting between separate papers in the “Papers” area for flexible note-taking.
- Quick Access to Tasks & Notes: (Menu) – Adding Tasks and Notes buttons to the top-right dropdown menu where clicking the button opened up a modal on screen that allowed you to check off a task or write a note would allow quick access to jot something down without leaving the current screen. Renaming ‘Notes’ to ‘Quick Notes’ might also clarify its function, as ‘Paper’ serves as the primary note-taking space. (Lock Screen) – Adding Tasks and Notes buttons on the lock screen (with gestures like “swipe up from the bottom left” for Tasks and “swipe up from the bottom right” for Notes) would offer quick access.
- Adjustable Line Spacing and Custom Fonts in epubs in Learning: Adjustable line spacing and support for custom fonts would improve readability in the Learning section.
AI and Text Conversion Features
- Enhanced Notes to Text AI Features:
- Seamless multi-page notes-to-text conversion.
- Catalog/index for pages with handwritten notes or highlights.
- AI to distinguish handwritten notes from printed text.

Daily and Calendar Functionality
- To-Do List Template in Paper: Add a dedicated to-do list template in the Paper app, featuring checkboxes for tasks and lines for entering items. This would provide an organized format for task management without needing to upload custom templates.
- Originally suggested by jetchoy on Oct 30, 2024
- Tags and Search in Daily Notes: Add tagging for notes within Daily and search functionality for notes and tasks by tags (excluding handwritten text for privacy).
- Scrolling and Enhanced Checkbox in Daily Feature: Modify the Daily feature for vertical scrolling through task lists, with options for shrinking the calendar and checkboxes to mark tasks as completed.
- Daily Task Creation from Meeting and Paper Apps: Allow tasks created in Meeting and Paper apps to appear in the Daily task list for seamless integration.
- Undo Button in Daily App: Add an undo button to reverse accidental actions, like crossing off items, in the Daily app.
- Daily Linkage for Created Content: Could the Daily section track all created content (e.g., pages, annotated PDFs, epubs in Learning) by date? This would make it easier to see everything created on a specific day, with tabs for each type (Tasks, Notes, Paper, Meetings, Learning, Pickings) or an all-encompassing “Created” tab. This might eliminate the need for Planner templates as all activity would be visible in the Daily view.
File Organization and Structure
- Unified File Organization for Papers and Learning: Allow files to move easily between “Paper” and “Learning” sections after import.
- Support for PARA Folder Structure: Add a customizable folder structure to organize files based on the PARA methodology (Projects, Areas, Resources, Archives).
- Subfolders in Paper: Adding subfolders in Paper would be similarly useful for note organization.
- Folder Structure in Learning: Add folders and subfolders in the Learning section for content organization.
- Folders in Meetings & Pickings: Add folder support in Meetings and Pickings sections for better document organization.
- Folders for Custom Templates and PDF Templates in Paper: Add the ability to organize custom templates into folders within the ‘Customize’ section to improve organization for users with extensive template libraries.
- Additionally, enable PDFs in Paper to be used as templates that can be duplicated as blank versions. This would enhance functionality for linked planners and similar use cases, allowing efficient reuse of customized PDF layouts without manually recreating them.
- Requested by inked_altitude on November 13, 2024
- Naming Pages/Sections in Long Documents: The option to name pages or sections in long documents would help navigation, allowing a type of Table of Contents and aiding the AI Assistant’s ability to analyze a full document.
- Landscape Writing Option: Provide a landscape orientation option for writing, offering flexibility for users who prefer a horizontal layout.
- Originally suggested by Joshua K on Oct 28, 2024
- Scribble to Delete: Implement a “scribble to delete” feature, similar to Boox, allowing users to quickly erase words by scribbling over them for more efficient editing.
- Requested by jetchoy on Oct 30, 2024
- Improved Highlighting Options: Add straight-line
and adjustable-thickness options to the highlighter for tidy annotations.
- Greyscale Drawing Options & Blender Brush: Add greyscale options and a blending brush for sketching or create a separate drawing app.

- Additional Artistic Tools: Add tools like greyscale pens and various brush types for digital artistry.
System and Connectivity Features
